With the help of the Upper Sandusky community, Jonathan Distel and his wife April were able to spread a positive message and good deeds on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic last week. Jonathan Distel, who works as a manager at AJ’s Heavenly Pizza in Upper Sandusky, raised some of the money for his trip via a donation jar at the AJ’s checkout counter.

Representatives from participating businesses in the 2018 South Sandusky Street Block Rally gathered at the Wyandot County Courthouse Thursday morning to present a check for $4,100 to local nonprofit Hannah’s House, which was represented by Executive Director Misty Droll.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board approved a request to purchase six laptops and a laptop cart during its meeting Thursday. Library Director Kathleen Whitt said the library attempted to receive a grant for the new laptops and cart but did not get approved.

MARION — The Marion Palace Theatre owners opened its doors to an anxious crowd of over 3,200. Those in attendance became the first to experience the lavish interior and a stage filled with exciting entertainment.

SYCAMORE — Clark’s Yard Sing and Potluck is Friday at 434 Haines Road, Sycamore. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. with singing at 6 p.m.

A little rain didn’t prevent the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce from hosting its annual steak fry on Wednesday at Ellis Lake. Over 200 people attended the event, which featured a 50/50 raffle, a live auction and live music.
