Upper Sandusky City Council held its final meeting of 2018, passing five ordinances involving appropriations, insurance, salaries and more. Council heard the second readings of 2019 wages and salaries as well as the 2019 appropriations. Both ordinances were passed and adopted unanimously.

Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky hosted “A Moment at the Manger,” an event in which nativity comes to life through music, narration and live animals, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Tyler A. Chavana, Carey, charged by the Carey police with criminal mischief, amended plea to no contest, found guilty. Jacob P. Deaton, Sylvania, charged by the sheriff with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, amended plea to no contest, found guilty.

The Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center officially introduced its new administrator Elaine Roynon with a meet and greet this week at the facility. Roynon was hired after interviewing with the Wyandot County Commissioners. She replaces former administrator Greg Lonsway, who resigned in August for medical reasons.

CAREY — A Carey man who allegedly made threats to his mother and stepfather, threatened to kill himself and barricaded himself in a residence was arrested early Friday morning. At 2:27 a.m. Friday, Charity Henderson of rural Vanlue called the Carey Police Department requesting a welfare check on her 19-year-old son, Zane D. Mahan.

SYCAMORE — Gibsonburg went 5-0 to take the team championship Friday in the second annual Mohawk Duals wrestling tournament. The Golden Bears won each of their five matches with ease, giving up no more than 18 points to an opponent and taking victory in each match by at least 36 points.

Dr. Robert Cope (right) of the Animal Clinic of Upper Sandusky recently donated items to the Upper Sandusky Fire Department to be used in order to save the lives of pets involved in a home fire. Items included stretchers and oxygen masks of various sizes, leashes and instructions for the use of the items.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board held its final meeting of 2018 Thursday afternoon. Library Director Kathleen Whitt said the insurance adjuster told her there’s no time limit on the restoration from the flooding in September.

The White Shutter Winery donated $1,008 to the Star Theatre in Upper Sandusky at the Christmas Cabaret on Saturday. The funds were raised from a murder mystery dinner and another dinner is planned in the future.
