Scout troops host pancake fundraiser

Scouts, BSA-Troop 777, Scouts, BSA-Troop 776 and Scouts, BSA-Pack 777 is having a pancake breakfast Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upper Sandusky Eagles. All proceeds for this event will help send a scout to camp. The meal is by donation.

Safety blotter: May 2, 2019

Jason P. Shifflett, Greeneville, Tennessee, was cited for driving under suspension, expired plates and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on U.S. 23 southbound near CH 121 the morning of May 1. An officer on patrol observed a resident on the 300 block of West Finley Street burning a large pile of sticks in their back yard the afternoon of May 1. The resident was advised of the city’s burning ordinance and how to comply. The fire was extinguished.

Birchaven aide wins OHCA hero award

Betty Bianchi, activity aide at Birchaven Village, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, has been selected by the Ohio Health Care Association as its Hero of Long-Term Care for May 2019. OHCA honors one long-term care employee each month for their service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.

Edward Jones receives high ranking

Financial services firm Edward Jones ranks highest in investor satisfaction with full service brokerage firms, according to the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Full Service Investor Satisfaction Study, the firm recently announced. The study measures overall investor satisfaction with 18 full service investment firms based on eight factors, including financial advisor, account information, investment performance, firm interaction, product offerings, commissions and fees, information resources, and problem resolution. The firm scored 853 in overall satisfaction, 18 points over the industry average.

Director: Open Door in dire need

Open Door Executive Director Scott Moore said the local non-profit is in need of help from the community after unexpected expenses due to the government shutdown early in year during the Open Door annual meeting Thursday evening at Viceroy Hall in Upper Sandusky.
