Upper Sandusky High School students were given a tour of Wyandot Memorial Hospital Wednesday as part of Ohio In-Demand Jobs Week. Wyandot Memorial Hospital Vice President of Operations and Quality Valerie Schalk, RN, BSN, led three groups of students on tours of the facility throughout the day with a goal of showing the students potential jobs available in the health care field, including jobs the students don’t typically associate with health care.

A dog was injured and a rural Upper Sandusky man was arrested following a domestic incident at which a responding deputy of the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office discharged his weapon early Wednesday morning. A Wyandot County Sheriff’s report states officers were dispatched to a residence on the 5000 block of Ohio 53 at 4:10 a.m. for a male who had been bitten on the face by a dog. The situation evolved into a domestic case when dispatchers were advised the dog’s owner and his father had gotten into a fight.

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Intl. will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Upper Sandusky’s First Lutheran Church. A speaker will talk about Girls ROX: Girl Empowerment in the Upper Sandusky Middle School.

LIMA — Carey High School was named the winner of Wyandot County and was fourth in the People’s Choice Award in the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1’s annual Paint the Plow contest. Miller City High School was voted the overall ODOT choice winner in this year’s Paint the Plow contest. ODOT District 1 employees voted for the best plow design at the district’s roadeo event May 1.

A caller reported a breaking and entering attempt at the concession stand at American Legion Field in Sycamore the afternoon of May 1. Extra patrols were performed in the area. Mandeep S. Sandhu, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was cited for failure to control after a semi truck he was driving was stuck in a yard on the 11000 block of CH 4 the afternoon of May 1.

Innovations Hair Studio in Upper Sandusky celebrated its one-year anniversary with a ribbon cutting ceremony through the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce Thursday. Owner Ally Felkey, a 2007 Carey High School graduate, said she had 10 years of experience at a salon and was ready for a change when she started out on her own in May 2018.
