The Village Gardeners Garden Club recently met with 12 guests, including members of the Friendship Garden Club of Union County. Speaker Mary Lee Minor, past president of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs and a master gardener, presented a program on arranging flowers using plants from her yard and garden.

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation invites area singers to join the 2016 Assumption Choir. The choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead music for the Vigil Mass of the Assumption at Shrine Park at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay will be one of the only Ohio institutions to offer a preparatory workshop this fall for beginning teachers who are required to take the Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment. Teachers begin their careers with four-year resident educator licenses, according to the Ohio Department of Education, which administers the assessment.

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club participation in the National Depression Glass Association Show this Saturday and Sunday was the main topic of conversation at a recent club meeting. At most of the show, Tiffin members will be responsible for handling the admission table, as well as operating the lunch stand for the two-day event.
