Study finds average of two injuries every hour from strollers, carriers

COLUMBUS — Although strollers and carriers typically are used to safely transport children, injuries do occur while using these products. A study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy of the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital found that, over a 21-year period from 1990 through 2010, almost 361,000 children ages 5 years and younger were treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments for stroller- or carrier-related injuries.

Grady Loverich, a son of Josh and Kate Loverich, has completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Grady registered in November 2015 and made the goal a few days before entering kindergarten.

Courtad, Linhart named to dean’s list at Otterbein WESTERVILLE — Sydney N. Courtad and Marissa K. Linhart, both of Upper Sandusky, recently were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Otterbein University.

Tiffin walking tours slated

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Historic Trust will sponsor “Behind the Facade: Revel Around the Ritz” from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Ritz Theatre, Tiffin Glass Museum, Elmwood at the Shawhan and other newly renovated sites on South Washington Street, along with the 1871 shoe factory on Liberty Street.

Forest craft night planned

FOREST — Cut the Craft at the Forest-Jackson Public Library will be offered at 1 and 7 p.m. Aug. 25. Adults and teens are invited to stop by the library to paint pinecone dahlias. The library provides all supplies for the craft program.

Lawn fete to benefit Trinity UCC, Scutch

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of Christ will host its annual lawn fete from 4:30-7 p.m. Aug. 27 in McCutchenville. The menu will include bratwurst, grilled bologna, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, baked beans, homemade potato salad, hot German potato salad, pie, ice cream and drinks.
