CAREY — The Dorcas Carey Public Library has released its calendar of activities and programs for the month of October. The library will celebrate its 110th anniversary Oct. 19-21.

TOLEDO — The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood and platelets this fall to help restock the shelves following a significant summer shortage to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need.

President Ruthie Reier called to order a recent meeting of Public Employees Retirement Inc. chapter No. 88 in the Bowman-Kirkland conference room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital with 20 members and one guest present.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library has released its calendar of activities and programs for October. The library will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 12-5 p.m. Oct. 7 in the lower level, and it will be closed Oct. 10 for Columbus Day.

The What’s Cookin’ cookbook discussion group will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

NEVADA — Saving Grace International Ministries Inc. will present the “Taking a Stand” tour at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Nevada United Methodist Church, 317 N. Main St. The event will feature evangelist Angelo Gonzales, a native of Ohio who now lives in Kansas, and the worship rock band Flee, of Newark.

CAREY — The Carey Link will host its annual local food sampling, A Taste of Carey, with two seatings Sunday. One hundred tickets will be sold for the meals beginning at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at The Link.

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will host a boating safety/beginner canoeing class at 3 p.m. Sunday at Neff Reservoir on Ohio 98. Pre-registration for the free course is required by Sept. 24 by calling 419-683-9000.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Community Library will offer an “Escape Room Challenge” on Saturday and Oct. 1. Escape rooms have become a popular game in the U.S.

The Wyandot County Parent Mentor program will sponsor three workshops in the upcoming months for families of loved ones with disabilities. On Wednesday, Miranda Inglis will present “Pure Living by Miranda: Reducing Chemical Body Burden” from 6-7:30 p.m.
