Meeting minutes: August 23, 2016

Jean Moon, president of the Wyandot Tracers chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, opened the August meeting at the Upper Sandusky Community Library with a reading of “Fisherman’s Poem.” Laurie Reinhart recited “Blind.”

Humane Society: August 23, 2016

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Aug. 18 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a neutered male tiger cat, a black female shih tzu that recently has been clipped, a red female French mastiff, a neutered male color point cat and a red female pit bull.

USCL to host clothing swap

The Upper Sandusky Community Library’s free clothing swap will return to the library in September. The twice-yearly event is set up like a garage sale, except it is free to participate, according to a press release from the USCL.

Study finds average of two injuries every hour from strollers, carriers

COLUMBUS — Although strollers and carriers typically are used to safely transport children, injuries do occur while using these products. A study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy of the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital found that, over a 21-year period from 1990 through 2010, almost 361,000 children ages 5 years and younger were treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments for stroller- or carrier-related injuries.
