Public Employees Retirement Inc. Chapter No. 88 held its first meeting of 2016 recently in the Bowman-Kirkland Conference Room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Chapter President Tom Menningen called the meeting to order and led nine members in prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Kindergarten registration for all residents of the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools will open Feb. 1. Children who will be five-years-old on or before Aug. 1 are required by law to register and be screened.

Open Door Resource Center will offer a series of classes called “Getting Ahead” as part of its Bridges Out of Poverty initiative. Getting Ahead is for men and women seeking to find solutions to life’s ongoing challenges: economic, social, physical and spiritual.

The Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be hosting a program at the Wyandot County Council on Aging from 11:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.

First Evangelical Church has announced that the Rev. Richard Weaver will serve as its interim pastor. Weaver graduated in 1982 from Christ Seminar-Seminex, St. Louis.

BUCYRUS — The Crawford Park District naturalist Josh Dyer is hosting a winter tree identification stroll at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sears Woods, 1486 Mount Zion Road. Dyer will show participants the ins and outs of identifying trees in the winter when they don’t have leaves, including taking a closer look at bark, the twigs and any fruit that may be found.
