A local effort is underway to collect fire relief items to be delivered to Gatlinburg, Tennesse, on Dec. 21. All household items are needed, as well as cleaning, personal hygiene and baby supplies, hats, gloves, coats, clothes and socks in all sizes.

OLC having fundraiser sale

CAREY — The Our Lady of Consolation volunteer bakery is planning a special bake sale this weekend. All profits will be sent to Catholic Relief Services to help assist Mid-Eastern refugees in crisis.

ASHLAND — The following students completed their Ashland University degree requirements and will graduate during commencement ceremonies Dec. 17. Danielle Wright of Nevada will receive a Bachelor of Science in education degree.

Meeting minutes: December 14, 2016

The Wyandot County Senior Citizens Club recently held its monthly meeting and Christmas potluck dinner at the Senior Center in Upper Sandusky with 27 members present. President Madonna Meeker opened the meeting and welcomed everyone, including three guests, Dolly and Tom Weaver and Sherri Wagner, newly appointed director of the Wyandot Council on Aging.

Special speaker at Harpster UMC

HARPSTER — Steve Burchett will be presenting the Sunday morning message at 10:25 a.m. Sunday at Harpster United Methodist Church, 17508 Cherokee St., Harpster. Burchett is a graduate of Ridgedale High School, Cedarville College and the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
