Stoneburners celebrate 50th anniversary

Longtime Upper Sandusky residents Al and Jan (Zischkau) Stoneburner will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday night, dining and dancing aboard the Odyssey as it cruises the Potomac River in Washington DC. High school sweethearts, the Stoneburners were married April 29, 1967 by the Rev. Minor Gressley in Angola, Indiana.

Toastmasters kickoff mtg. set for May 4 at Fairhaven

A kickoff meeting for Toastmasters International personal development and leadership program is from 5:30-7 p.m. May 4 at Fairhaven Community auditorium, Upper Sandusky. Businesses and community members are invited to join the program that teaches leadership and public-speaking skills. Appetizers and beverages will be served.

Meeting minutes: April 27, 2017

TIFFIN — Speaker Ed Goshe explained that many styles of single- and double-candlestick holders were made at Pittsburgh-area factories during the April meeting of the Tiffin Glass Collectors Club. During later production years, several varieties were manufactured at Tiffin’s Factory R plant, Goshe said.

1,000 books

Briggs McKinley had 1,000 books read to him before kindergarten. Dorcas Carey Public Library offers the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten reading program for children up to school-age. Each child receives a log for books to be recorded and special incentives are given along the way to 1,000.

Humane Society: April 26, 2017

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a black male retriever mix, a black and white female husky mix with blue eyes, a white male great pyrenees and a gray male cat.
