The Friends of the Library recently bought benches, a mini kitchen island, a convection microwave and an induction cooktop and cookware for the Upper Sandusky Community Library.

Logan Haferd read 1,000 books before kindergarten. Dorcas Carey Public Library offers the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten reading program for children up to school-age. Each child receives a log for books to be recorded and special incentives are given along the way to 1,000.

FOREST — Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will host a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the VFW Hall, 204 W. Lima St., Forest. It is the last fish fry until October. Proceeds go to scholarships for Riverdale students.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore United Methodist Church will host a dinner and devotion at 6 p.m. May 17. The event is open to the public.

“Build a Better World” is the theme of Upper Sandusky Public Library’s 2017 Summer Reading Program for all ages. Patrons are invited to try something new this summer: at home, in the community, throughout the country, and around the globe.
