No One Fights Alone event May 18

SYCAMORE — A nonprofit organization in Sycamore wants community members with cancer to know that “no one fights alone.” The No One Fights Alone car, truck and bike show will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 on Main Street in Sycamore. Car show registration starts at 9:30 a.m.

CASA hosts successful shooting stars fundraiser

TIFFIN — CASA of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties recently held another successful “Sandusky County Stars Dancing for CASA” fundraiser event, thanks to community supporters. Funds raised from this event will be used to support volunteer recruitment, training and supervision.

Third Thursday event is today in Tiffin

TIFFIN — Blooming Artist Stroll, the April Third Thursday event, is today, with more than 20 stops featuring local artists and musicians. This free, family-friendly event features one-of-a-kind art as well as door prizes. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the spring weather with a stroll down Washington Street.

Trauma and addiction conference is April 29

FINDLAY — Monday, April 29, University of Findlay’s Social Work Program, with support from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Hancock County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board, will host “Trauma and Addiction: Mindful Pathways to Recovery,” a daylong conference.

Choice to vaccinate should be an easy one

Parents make many tough decisions throughout the course of their children’s lives. The decision to vaccinate should not have to be one of them. Vaccines have been around for more than 200 years beginning with Edward Jenner’s vaccine against smallpox in 1796.

Fort Meigs offering after dark tour

PERRYSBURG — A limited number of visitors can experience Fort Meigs after dark during a one-night-only tour May 3. Led by costumed guides, guests will tour the fort by lantern light, witness a nighttime musket demonstration and experience the historic battlefield as soldiers did during the War of 1812.

Joint meeting

It was celebration time at the joint meeting of Kappa and Lambda Chapters of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International April 13. Kappa Co-Presidents Norma Frederick and Dorothy Blackburn welcomed 28 members and 5 guests, Judy Green, Joan Woodruff, Sandra Moore, Jodi Phillips and Adeline Terry at the Kenton Elks.

Ashlie Webb Payton (right) presented a program on family storytelling at Monday’s meeting of the Wyandot Tracers. Payton discussed how family folklore relates to genealogy and told interesting tales involving buried treasure, haunted houses, outlaws and the mafia that had been passed down.
