Nine mothers and nine children gathered Saturday for the fourth annual Latch on the Lawn at the Wyandot County Courthouse. Organized by Wyandot County Women, Infants and Children peer breastfeeding consultant Kayley Arthur, the event was held at registered locations throughout the world.

In June, 27 area juveniles and young adults began the Wyandot County youth training program. When the program concluded recently, 21 of those youth had completed the summer program that took place at different workplaces and worksites.

Friday’s 13th annual Party in the Park was sponsored by the Wyandot County Youth Commission and the Salvation Army.

Carey kicked off the 2016 festival on Thursday night with some family fun and entertainment.

As the initiation rate of breastfeeding mothers edges upward in Wyandot County, local families are sharing their stories during Breastfeeding Awareness Month in hopes it will encourage more parents-to-be to consider the benefits. Local families have no lack of support when they know where to look.
