May makes semis, locks up place in 182’s top 6

COLUMBUS — Tanner May felt his opponent’s weight and made his move. The Carey freshman broke a 1-1 tie with a takedown in the final 15 seconds of his Division III 182-pound championship quarterfinal against Versailles’ Jerome Bey on Friday morning at the state wrestling tournament in the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University.

Injury crash

Multiple agencies responded to an injury crash involving two vehicles this morning at the intersection of Ohio 199 and CH 47 in rural Upper Sandusky. A Wyandot County man was driving on CH 47 when he pulled out in front of a Marysville man driving a red Jeep north on Ohio 199 before the Wyandot County man’s vehicle was struck on the passenger-side door of his white Pontiac, according to Wyandot County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Robison.

Clary dominates 1st match

COLUMBUS — Noah Clary was about as dominant as he could have been in a match that went into the third period. Up 18-3 after a third-period takedown, Clary held on for a pin in 4:19 over Unioto’s Ben Davenport in the preliminary round of the state tournament at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State on Thursday.

Draper wins, 3-1

COLUMBUS — The scoring was nice and low, just how Cole Draper likes it. Draper advanced in the state wrestling tournament with a 3-1 decision victory over Rittman’s Manny Garza on Thursday at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University.

May strong in debut

COLUMBUS — If there were any nerves, Tanner May sure didn’t show them. Carey’s first freshman state qualifier since 1989 made a strong first impression with an 8-2 decision victory over Austin Carroll, of Zane Trace, in the opening round of the state wrestling tournament at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University on Thursday.
