Patrons of the Wyandot County Historical Society’s annual ice cream social received free admission to the Wyandot County museum and schoolhouse Saturday. An exhibit at the museum for a limited time was featured, and will continue throughout July.

Many area residents enjoyed the many various activities, games, and fireworks at the Tree Town Festival held over the weekend.

Severe thunderstorms caused flooding in areas of Wyandot County on Friday, but there were few weather-related calls for service from local law enforcement. Precipitation observation statistics from the National Weather Service indicate the county received about 1.24 inches of rainfall Friday.

No one was injured when lightning struck near Essex Place senior apartment building in Upper Sandusky on Friday morning. Something set off alarms on the top floor of the three-story building and shut down the elevator some time after 7 o’clock this morning, said Mike King, president of the senior association.

What began as a favor for his nephew’s genealogy 4-H project, led a Bucyrus man with Wyandot County roots on a mission to uncover the factual piece of county lore. Scott McKee of Bucyrus met with Wyandot County commissioners at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday to discuss finding where an unmarked cemetery on county property is located.

FOREST — When one salon closes, another opens. Jessica Ropp’s Shear Edge Salon LLC in Forest has been up and running for nearly a month at the location of the former DeGoode Salon, 124 E. Lima St.
