FINDLAY — A young Carey team has played with confidence through its postseason run. Lone senior Dani Berardinelli-Clark has more to do with that than the numbers she puts up on the field.

When Elaine Boes Thomson and son Josh Boes quietly opened their restaurant for the first time April 30, they expected only a couple of close friends. What they got was a line of 15-20 people standing at the door.

Union Elementary students in kindergarten through third grade participated in field day at the school’s playground Tuesday afternoon. Union boosters donated funds to supply two bounce houses and free snow cones from Snowie.

FINDLAY — Carey’s run to the regional finals last year may have been considered by some a fluke, but there is no denying the Blue Devils have arrived as a small-school softball power after winning their second straight Division IV district championship Saturday.

MARION — Each year, Levi Brown, Riverdale’s technology and applied engineering teacher, attends the Ohio Technology and Engineering Educators Association Tech Conference. As he has done in the past, Brown took some of his students’ projects with him to this year’s conference in Marion to be judged along with projects from students all across the state. The results blew him away.

ATTICA — Seneca East scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated Carey, 6-2, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Monday in Attica.

CAREY — Carey’s Anita Rickle is retiring after 30 years as a treasurer’s assistant, and Linda Groves is retiring after 24 years as an elementary secretary. Janitor Chuck Ryder retired earlier this year after 10 years in the district.

FINDLAY — Carey and Riverdale advanced a slew of competitors to regional competition on the second day of the Division III district meet Saturday at Findlay High School.

FOSTORIA — Deja vu. The fourth-seeded Carey Blue Devils defeated top-seeded Columbus Grove, 7-3, Saturday afternoon at Fostoria High School to capture the 2017 Division IV District title.
