Pack finishes as state runner-up in discus

COLUMBUS — Upper Sandusky’s Shane Pack didn’t set a new school record for distance in the discus, but he did place higher in the event than he did last season. Pack set the school mark with a throw of 161-6 and finished seventh in the discus at a loaded state meet as a junior.

Two vehicle crash

A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 23 and CH 113 sent three people to the hospital Friday night. Brittany Fraizer, Michigan, was driving her Ford Focus southbound on U.S. 23 when she thought the intersection with CH 113 was a curve and struck the front left side of the Chrysler PT Cruiser occupied by Melvin and Shirley Dible of Upper Sandusky, pushing the vehicle into a ditch.

COLUMBUS — Riverdale senior thrower Carrol Pauley believes she has come a long way since her freshman year and she proved it with a second-place Division III discus throw at the state meet Friday in Columbus.

AKRON — Carey’s first state tournament appearance was a short one. Victims of early errors and a pair of three-run blasts, the Blue Devils fell 10-0 to Williamsburg in a five-inning Division IV semifinal at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
