Children at the Upper Sandusky Community Library have some new ways to pass their time thanks to a local woodworker. Jim Hogan, of Upper Sandusky, has been crafting items from wood for over 50 years and he saw an opportunity to create some puzzles and give back to the library.

CAREY — Moreno’s Casual Dining celebrated its banquet hall expansion Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Wyandot and Carey Chambers of Commerce. “It is an exciting time right now,” Moreno’s owner Chef Angel Moreno said.

The survey says area residents will be howling with laughter at 7 p.m. Saturday night as Wyandot County-based non-profit Hannah’s House holds its annual fundraiser at the Elk’s Lodge in Upper Sandusky. The organizers believe it could be biggest and best fundraiser yet.

The What’s Cookin’ cookbook discussion group held its second annual soup cook-off Monday night at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Contestants prepared soup for judges Debbie Frey, Kate Wentling and Irv Woods.

ATTICA — Upper Sandusky had first-place Seneca East on the ropes on its home court, but the Tigers buckled down on defense in the fourth quarter and remained unbeaten in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball play with a 50-41 victory Tuesday night.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk girls basketball team’s goal was to only turn the ball over a total of 10 times. Wynford had other ideas. Using their full-court press and zone defense in the half court, the Royals forced eight turnovers in the first three minutes of the game and 22 turnovers on the night in their 56-33 victory over Mohawk on Tuesday at Mohawk High School.

Effective April 30, Wyandot Memorial Hospital no longer will deliver babies. “The decision to end our labor and delivery services was very difficult and emotional,” WMH Board Chairman Fred Feichter said in a press release. “We’ve struggled for almost 15 years with how to justify keeping the service, when more and more Wyandot County residents travel out of the county to deliver their newborns.”
