CAREY — Blanchard Valley Conference champion North Baltimore scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to put away Carey, 8-3, in a non-conference softball game Thursday. The Tigers (16-5) scored twice in the third inning and once in the fourth for a 3-0 lead, but the Blue Devils (7-4) fought back with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it a one-run game.

SYCAMORE — A whipping wind and a wild finish highlighted Upper Sandusky’s win over Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Wednesday. After both teams scored a pair of runs in one extra inning, Ben Sheaffer scored from first base on an error to put the Rams (10-9, 8-3 N10) ahead in the top of the ninth, and Arik Schneider (2-3) held the Warriors scoreless in the bottom to preserve an 8-7 victory.

McQuown’s drug, alcohol video wins 3rd in state competition

While most students who study broadcasting think of television when faced with a class project, Upper Sandusky High School senior Delaney McQuown used a lesser-known type of video art to recently go home a winner. McQuown was recognized April 20 as the third-place winner of a video competition sponsored by the Drug Free Action Alliance, Start Talking! campaign and Verizon.
