Playing in its first match since Aug. 30, the Upper Sandusky girls tennis team dropped a 3-2 decision to Madison on Wednesday. Upper Sandusky (2-5) got victories in the top two singles positions but Madison won handily in the other three matches.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Liberty-Benton remained undefeated and kept the girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association lead with a 3-0 victory at Riverdale on Wednesday. The Eagles (6-0-1, 3-0 NCOSA) scored once in the first half and twice in the second half.

Whole Life Fitness in Upper Sandusky is bringing back the popular health study “The Daniel Plan” later this month. The plan is a five-week study on building a healthy lifestyle and features the five F’s, faith, food, fitness, focus and friends.

HARPSTER — A case was made for public transportation in Wyandot County at the mayor’s breakfast Tuesday morning at Harpster United Methodist Church. Todd Dilley, chairperson of the Wyandot County Coordinated Transportation Coalition discussed the opportunity.

The Upper Sandusky Fire Department honored the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a special memorial on the front lawn of the Upper Sandusky Safety Building, including having the flag at half-staff.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — After Hardin Northern easily cruised to a game one win in its volleyball match against Riverdale on Tuesday night, it looked like it may be an easy night for the Polar Bears. The Falcons had other ideas, however, as they pulled away just as easily for a win in game two.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk volleyball continued to roll against Northern 10 Athletic Conference competition by downing Seneca East, 25-20, 25-19, 25-16, on Tuesday. The Warriors (9-1, 6-1 N10) have won nine straight matches and have swept six consecutive N10 opponents since opening the season with a 3-2 loss to Buckeye Central.

CAREY — Carey stayed in contention in the Northern 10 Athletic League with a 174-189 victory against Seneca East and also picked up a nonleague win against North Baltimore (191) on Tuesday at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course. With the win, the Blue Devils (9-3, 5-2 N10) took control of third place in the league over the Tigers (6-3, 3-3 N10).
