Fairhaven Community kicked off its National Nursing Home Week celebration Monday morning with a visit by St. Peter School’s sixth-grade class and Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn.

INDIANAPOLIS — The National FFA Foundation awarded a $750 grant and an official FFA jacket to the Riverdale High School FFA chapter. Legacy Farmers Cooperative together with Syngenta participated in the FFA Blue Jacket program as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, to make the award possible.

For the first time in his tenure as mayor, Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn gave a key to the city award to an entire program Sunday. Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools’ music department received the award at the high school’s annual spring band and choir concert.

Riverdale High School juniors and seniors watch as first responders tend to the scene of a mock crash at the school Friday morning. With Riverdale’s prom set for Saturday, students were shown the dangers of texting and/or drinking and driving.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk’s Austin Harper made a strong case as to why he ought to defend his Northern 10 Athletic Conference Player of the Year award in a 7-2 victory over Carey. On the pitching mound, he struck out 10 in a complete game with two walks, five hits and one earned run allowed, and at the plate, he broke open the game and chased Carey starter Brayden Wentling with a three-run double in the fifth inning.

More than 200 senior citizens enjoyed lunch, music and fellowship Friday during Wyandot County Council on Aging’s annual Older Americans’ Month celebration. The theme was “Age Out Loud.”

NORTH ROBINSON — For the third consecutive year, Colonel Crawford remains the only school to ever claim a boys or girls Northern 10 Athletic Conference title. The Eagles claimed the boys championship by a 150-116 margin over Seneca East and the girls team edged Upper Sandusky 150.5-148.
