Seniors lead Upper to another win

Upper Sandusky’s seniors have carried them so far this season and they did so again Friday night. Alexis Fogle, Maddie McLaughlin and Alivia Oney all scored in double figures as the Rams pulled away from Ridgedale to remain unbeaten in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball play with a 49-28 victory.

CAREY — It took seven games, but it finally happened. Senior Hannah Lonsway scored 13 points, Alaina Tiell and Sadie Arend each scored 9 points and Avarie Stewart added 5 points as the Carey girls basketball team got its first victory and snapped its season opening six-game losing streak with a 38-26 victory over Mohawk on Friday at Carey.

Dr. Robert Cope (right) of the Animal Clinic of Upper Sandusky recently donated items to the Upper Sandusky Fire Department to be used in order to save the lives of pets involved in a home fire. Items included stretchers and oxygen masks of various sizes, leashes and instructions for the use of the items.

The Upper Sandusky Police Department helped spread Christmas cheer to area youth Wednesday evening at Walmart with its 2018 “Shop with a Cop” program. Twenty-three children were selected to participate in the evening, which allows the children to pick out gifts while accompanied by an Upper Sandusky police officer.

DaVita Way of Giving

Davita, an international dialysis company based in Upper Sandusky chose St. Peter School as the recipient of its 2018 DaVita Way of Giving. The school was presented with a check for $1,150 Tuesday morning and DaVita volunteers stuck behind to help serve lunch to students.
