The Upper Sandusky High School competition cheer team took first place in the large varsity division in the 10th annual Ohio Athletic Committee cheerleading state competition Sunday at Worthington-Kilbourne High School. The Rams were OAC state runner-up out of nine squads, next to Hilliard Davidson High School.

FOSTORIA — The Upper Sandusky junior high wrestling team took the team championship Saturday in the Chuck Mason wrestling tournament at Fostoria. The Rams finished ahead of second-place Elmwood, with Bowling Green, Findlay Donnell and Gibsonburg following that. Carey was 13th in the 23-team tournament.

CAREY — It didn’t take Carey High School junior Tanner May long to secure his place in Carey High School wrestling history. May, who had a first-round bye in the Carey Classic on Saturday at Carey High School, faced Fostoria’s Aaron Johnson in the second round, where he pinned Johnson at the 41-second mark. With the victory, May became the youngest wrestler in the history of the Carey High School wrestling program to win the 100th match of his high school wrestling career.

Rams finally slow Crall in 4th to hold off Royals 69-54

Upper Sandusky used a flurry of 3-pointers early to build a lead, and after Josh Crall rallied Wynford back into the game, the Rams used defense and post offense to put the Royals away 69-54 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play Saturday night. The Rams buried 10 treys in the first half, including seven in the first quarter, to take a 44-32 halftime lead.
