Wynford BOE shows gratitude for support BUCYRUS — At Thursday’s Wynford Local School District Board of Education meeting, the board recognized and celebrated individuals and organizations that are helping area students. Amanda Sheets, operations manager at the Crawford Success Center, a satellite of North Central State College in Bucyrus, said that the Arts for Success event, a fundraiser to generate scholarship money for local students, was a huge success thanks to area student artists, local artists and artists from around, or with ties to Ohio that created works to be auctioned off at the event. Wyandot fire departments receive grant money for MARCS system The Ohio State Fire Marshall visited the Wyandot County EMS building Wednesday afternoon to award grant money to seven Wyandot County fire departments. Jeff Hussey and his Chief Deputy Bill Spurgeon presented a check for $279,017.29 to the Upper Sandusky, Carey, Sycamore, Wharton, Wyandot East, Marseilles and Pitt Township fire departments to be used for a new multi-agency radio communication system (MARCS). Upper council considers sale of Waterworks Park Upper Sandusky City Council agreed on a minimum bid for the sale of Waterworks Park at its meeting Monday. The city has owned 12 of the acres of Waterworks Park since the early 1900s and it purchased 16 additional acres for $2,000 an acre in 1998. Read More

McLaughlin tops Ball for his 4th Match Game title in last 5 years With Roger Ball closing in on his lead late in the third game Sunday, Don McLaughlin showed why he has become Wyandot Lanes’ top bowler. McLaughlin converted a 2-4-10 split on the ninth frame to erase any chance of a Ball comeback in the championship of the Wyandot Match Game Invitational, and he went on to take a 662-607 series victory to win his fourth title in the last five years and his tournament-record fifth championship overall in the 34-year-old tournament.
