ATTICA — Just when Seneca East thought it was back in the game Friday night against Upper Sandusky in a boys Northern 10 Athletic Conference basketball matchup, Upper Sandusky stepped on the gas. With the Rams’ lead cut to 10 points in the third quarter, Upper Sandusky was fueled by a 17-2 run to close out the quarter and pulled away to defeat Seneca East 74-50 at Seneca East.

NEVADA — A garage and some vehicles were destroyed in a structure fire late Wednesday night in rural Nevada. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reports 911 was called at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday night concerning a garage on fire on the 10000 block of TH 134 in rural Nevada.

SYCAMORE — Aubrey Margraf was attacking the basket with success early, and she got just what Mohawk needed when she did it late Thursday night. Margraf went straight down the right side of the lane for a layup with 2 seconds left to give the Warriors a 52-50 victory Ridgemont in a nonconference girls basketball game.

CAREY — With her team leading by only two points with over 4 minutes remaining, Upper Sandusky’s Alexis Fogle noticed something in the Carey girls basketball team’s defense. “They were playing off of me a little bit, and I decided to shoot it,” Fogle said.

BUCYRUS — Wynford senior Noah Smith wanted to walk on to the University of Akron baseball team. But the opportunity to play at a small college, a college with a baseball team that is ranked No. 22 in the country in the 2019 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 preseason poll, proved to be the deciding factor in his decision.

One week after hosting Hannah’s House Family Feud, the Upper Sandusky Elk’s Lodge is hosting An Evening with Pat Godwin in support of the Wyandot County Midget Football League. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the event is expected to begin by 8 p.m.

An Upper Sandusky teenager was injured in a one-vehicle accident this morning in rural Upper Sandusky. Wyandot County Sheriff’s Lt. Neil Reidlinger said a passer-by called 911 at 5:26 a.m. after discovering the scene of an accident near the corner of Ohio 199 and CH 44 north of Upper Sandusky.

Before the start of the 2018-19 season, the Upper Sandusky girls basketball coaching staff wanted to mix up the training routine for the girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams beyond weightlifting and sprints. That’s when the light bulb came on for Upper Sandusky assistant girls basketball coach Catie Richman.

A pair of Tiffin women have recently expanded their nutrition business to Upper Sandusky. Business partners Dawn Tyree and Michelle Walland opened Future U Nutrition in December, expanding from the Best Break nutrition club in Tiffin. “I started the business in Tiffin three years ago,” Tyree said.
