The word “exercise” typically doesn’t evoke a sense of fun, but students at St. Peter’s Catholic School, in Upper Sandusky, clearly felt differently Friday at the school’s Physical Education Program attended by parents and loved ones.

The Upper Sandusky baseball team retained sole possession of first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with an 8-4 victory over Ridgedale on Friday at Upper Sandusky.

For the last week, the basement of the Upper Sandusky Community Library has been closed off for sorting and sizing clothing donations for the annual clothing swap. Now, it is officially open through Saturday at noon during library hours for the community to come find clothes to fill a need or to jazz up a lackluster wardrobe.

Area employees had the opportunity to learn about improving their overall well-being Thursday morning at the Wyandot County Employee Health and Wellness Fair, which was held in the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds.

When Upper Sandusky senior Connor Landversicht is umpiring a baseball game, he feels he is giving back to the community and is closer to and more involved in the game he loves. Landversicht began taking his Beginning Officials courses through the Ohio High School Athletic Association in the middle of February in Marion, where he received instruction from Casey Mackay, a high school and college baseball umpire. He took a rules test, mechanics test and an OHSAA test and was required to have a score of 70% or higher on each test.

The Upper Sandusky junior high boys track and field team has won all three of its meets so far this season. The Rams opened the season by edging Seneca East 63-61, with Wynford scoring 4 points, in a tri-match.

County officials commemorated April Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month with a ceremony on the Wyandot County Courthouse lawn Wednesday afternoon. Proclamations were read by Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn and Wyandot County Commissioner Steven Seitz.

WHARTON — An outbuilding and camper were destroyed in a fire Tuesday night in rural Wharton. A Wyandot County Sheriff’s report states two deputies and a sergeant were dispatched to the 16000 block of TH 42 at 11:39 p.m. for a structure fire.
