Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn reads a proclamation at St. Peter Catholic School Wednesday afternoon declaring the week of Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 as “celebrating Catholic schools week” in Upper Sandusky.

Beca House opens at WMH

New location

The Beca House Coffee Co. opened a satellite coffee shop in the atrium at Wyandot Memorial Hospital last week. Beca House owners Steve and Heather Jackson have established hours at the new location from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday.

NEW WASHINGTON — Everything changed in only a few seconds. Jenna Karl’s long 3-pointer at the end of the fourth quarter forced overtime, and a Courtney Pifher three-point play off the tip ball to begin overtime turned the tide, and Buckeye Central took over first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with a 55-51 victory against Carey on Tuesday night.

CAREY — The Carey Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated 25 years of existence with its 24th annual dinner meeting Monday evening at Moreno’s in downtown Carey. Chamber Executive Director Cassie Carlson organized the festivities, which included a meal catered by Moreno’s, award presentations and the State of the Village address by Carey Mayor Jennifer Rathburn.

The Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame will induct its 2018 class in a banquet at 6 p.m. April 21 at the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Inductees this year are Riverdale’s Don Bowman, Upper Sandusky’s Robby Lee, Sycamore’s Wilfred Osborn, Wynford’s Mike Schifer, Mohawk’s Aubrey Walton, Carey’s Beth (Baldridge) Williams and the 2003 Mohawk softball team.
