Carey dominates home tri

CAREY — Carey lost only two matches while dominating Margaretta 58-3 and Fredericktown 59-6 in a tri-match Saturday at Carey. Kadin Smiley (113 pounds), Reece Mullholand (126), Lance Woods (132), AJ Gernert (152), Hayden Jacoby (160), Kaeden Wentz (170) and Jeremiah Patton (195) had pins for the Blue Devils against the Polar Bears.

Warriors remain unbeaten

SYCAMORE — Zach Hayman scored 10 of his 14 points at the free-throw line and Mohawk picked up a quality nonconference win to stay undefeated, beating Hopewell-Loudon 52-45 on Saturday night at Mohawk. Hayman went 10 of 11 at the foul line, including 6 of 7 in the fourth quarter to help put away the Chieftains (6-4). Austin Tusing added 10 points for the Warriors (8-0).

Wynford falls at Crestview

OLIVESBURG — Josh Crall scored 30 points, but Wynford could not overcome a slow start in a 63-55 nonconference road loss to Ashland Crestview on Saturday. The Cougars (3-6) took a 22-8 lead after one quarter and held off the Royals (1-8).

Seneca East defense dominates

SYCAMORE — First-place Seneca East’s defense was suffocating in a 58-18 victory against Mohawk in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball action Saturday. The Tigers (10-1, 7-0 N10) had an 11-4 lead after one quarter and outscored the Warriors 16-0 in the second to go up 27-4 at halftime. They led 40-8 after three quarters.

Buckeye pulls away from Carey

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central outscored Carey in each quarter, slowly pulling away for a 42-27 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Saturday. The Buckettes (7-2, 5-1 N10) led 9-4 after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime and 34-21 after three quarters.

Warriors get win

ATTICA — Mohawk’s freshman boys basketball team had no trouble with Seneca East in a 66-38 victory Saturday. Nathan Geary led the Warriors with 21 points. Collin Barth added 14 points and Reese Hannam scored 11 points.

Upper’s McDaniel 7th in GMVWA tourney

VANDALIA — Brayzin McDaniel finished in seventh place to lead Upper Sandusky Friday in the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Vandalia Butler. McDaniel was the only Ram to place, finishing 5-2 in the tournament at 145 pounds.

FINDLAY — Carey jumped out a 17-point halftime lead, and the was it’s final margin of victory in a 64-47 non-conference win Friday night at Liberty-Benton. The Blue Devils (4-4) led 16-9 after one quarter and 32-15 at halftime.
