Chevalier drives in 4 runs to lead Warriors over Royals

SYCAMORE – AJ Chevalier was a triple short of hitting for the cycle as Mohawk took a 13-3 run-rule victory against Wynford in six innings in Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play Tuesday in Sycamore.

Chevalier singled, doubled and homered while finishing the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Emily Brickner doubled among four hits and scored two runs. Katie Woodland had a triple and two singles while scoring three times. Aubrey Gottfried added a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Gottfried (13-2) allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts in six innings to get the pitching win.

The Warriors (13-3, 7-1 N10) led just 4-2 when they scored six times in the fourth inning to blow open the game. They scored three times in the sixth to end it early.

Briley Hildreth singled and drove in two runs for the Royals (9-10, 4-7 N10).
Adison Sebring (3-4) took the loss, giving up 11 earned runs on 15 hits and four walks without a strikeout.

The teams play again at 5 p.m. today at Wynford.
