Dyer makes 3rd trip to Columbus

Thurston Dyer is a four-time league wrestling champion and a two-time state qualifier. He has not finished in the top eight at the state tournament. Dyer will make his third appearance in the season-ending tournament in Columbus this weekend with the goal of finally winning at least two matches.

Sophomore Clary looks forward to challenge

Noah Clary’s approach to wrestling in the state tournament is simple. “Just do the best I can,” he said. “Wrestle as hard as I can.” The Upper Sandusky sophomore has done just that all season. It has gotten him as far as a third-place finish in the Division II Fostoria district tournament at 160 pounds and a state qualification.

Price getting advice from brother, father before state

SYCAMORE — With a 2-1 win against Hopewell-Loudon’s Dylan Hammond, Daniel Price is in position to match his brother as a three-time state qualifier. Grant Price qualified for Columbus in each of his final three seasons for the Warriors from 2011-13 and he and father Todd have offered him plenty of advice throughout the season and as he heads to the state tournament as a sophomore at 126 pounds.

N10 5th grade champs

Mohawk recently captured the Northern 10 Athletic Conference fifth grade boys basketball championship with a 38-28 victory against Colonel Crawford at Buckeye Central.

Upper fans encouraged to wear white

Upper Sandusky’s cheerleaders are asking all fans to wear white for the Rams’ boys basketball Division II district semifinal game against Ottawa-Glandorf at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Ohio Northern University, located at 529 W. Lincoln Ave., Ada.

Little Rams having clinics and tryouts

Upper Sandusky will begin a Little Rams competition cheerleading team for the 2016-17 school year. Students rising to fourth, fifth and sixth grade are eligible to try out. Clinics are from 5:30-7 p.m. March 8 and 10, and tryouts are at 10 a.m. March 12 at Upper Sandusky Middle School. For more information, call Stacy Taylor at 419-250-0597.

Angeline teams lose in West Section finals

VAN BUREN — Both the Angeline men’s and women’s basketball team finished a game short of qualifying for the state final four with losses this weekend. The Indians women lost a 40-32 game to the Hamilton County Queen City Gems in the West Sectional championship at Van Buren High School.
