Rams thump Rockets to reach district final SHELBY — Thirteen strikeouts isn’t a season high for Upper Sandusky senior pitcher Jason Holly. He struck out 17 in a win earlier in the season, and had struck out 13 batters three separate times before Thursday’s contest. Rams’ Taylor reaches finals LEXINGTON — Upper Sandusky’s Chloe Taylor picked the perfect time to run her personal best time in the 400 dash. Running in the eighth lane in the second heat of the preliminaries of the 400 dash at the regional track and field meet Thursday at Lexington, Taylor finished eighth overall in 1:01.72 and qualified for the regional finals of the 400 dash Saturday. Smalley sentenced to 30 months for attempted arson A McCutchenville man was sentenced to 30 months in prison for attempted aggravated arson Tuesday. Daniel E. Smalley, 30, McCutchenville, was indicted on an aggravated arson charge Nov. 14, 2018, and pleaded guilty to the reduced charge on March 26. Before the sentencing, Smalley agreed to register as an arson offender. Read More

Upper, Riverdale athletes compete in state junior high competition LANCASTER — Riverdale and Upper Sandusky both sent qualifiers to compete in the state junior high track and field meet recently held at Lancaster High School. Upper Sandusky Elexys Miller just missed placing in the girls high jump, finishing ninth by clearing 4-11. Two other competitors had the same height but finished higher based on fewer misses.
