As part of its fifth and sixth grade leadership academy, St. Peter Catholic School welcomed State Rep. Riordan McClain (pictured above at right) for lunch and a short speaking engagement Monday. Principal Blake England said the program is aimed at older students, but all grade levels were available to hear McClain speak and for a question and answer session about leadership.

BUCYRUS — Wynford had little trouble taking out rival Bucyrus 25-18, 25-11, 25-11 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Monday night. Averi McMillan led the Royals (7-8, 5-5 N10) with six kills, seven assists and six digs. In her return to the lineup after missing the last five matches, Lainey Holman had four kills and two aces.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Grace Wetherill pounded 19 kills, and Riverdale outlasted North Baltimore 26-28, 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 15-10 in Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball play Monday night at Riverdale. Wetherill added three aces for the Falcons (2-10, 1-6 BVC). Tayler Yoder had 28 assists. Tayler Ashburn contributed four aces, five kills and eight digs.

Windau scores 4 goals in Rams’ win

Hannah Windau came one goal short of tying the school record for goals in a match, netting four of them in Upper Sandusky’s 4-1 girls soccer victory against Marion Harding on Saturday at Upper Sandusky. Mia Norris found Windau with a pass into the penalty area, and Windau beat the goalkeeper backside for her first goal at the 28:22 mark in the first half. With 9:56 remaining in the half, Brooke Swavel played the ball through to Riley Messersmith, who switched the field to Windau, who converted.

To Africa and Back!: Forest native Forseth serves as missionary

PEORIA,Ill. — Katrina Forseth, daughter of Dallas and Brenda Parsell, of Forest, recently returned from a summer three-week mission trip to Uganda, East Central Africa, “To Africa and Back!” In 21 days, her team reached over 3,000 children in schools and Sunday schools across the country and also 1,500 adults through churches and conferences sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

BUCYRUS — After finishing the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 1-2 record, Wynford felt it needed to make a statement heading into Northern 10 Athletic Conference play Friday night against Buckeye Central. The Royals’ offense flashed their big play ability, scoring on all five possessions in the first half en route to a dominating 57-0 win on homecoming night against the winless Bucks.
