The Wyandot Piecemakers Quilt Club continued its 31-year tradition of a quilt donation Wednesday evening at its monthly meeting. For the last two years, the club has donated a quilt to the Special Olympics, which will be given away in a drawing in March 2020, hosted by the Special Olympics.

Club gears up for Autumn Cruise Saturday

Wyandot Classics and Cruisers is gearing up for another great year its Autumn Cruise show Saturday in downtown Upper Sandusky. Now in its 19th year, organizer Dave Yeater, said the event is on track with last year with preregistrations and is expected to bring around 700 vehicles, 25 years and older, Saturday and many more people from around Ohio and surrounding states looking to enjoy a good car show and cruise-in.

FOSTORIA — Upper Sandusky freshman Liv Gier’s 96 led area players in the Division II sectional girls golf tournament Tuesday at Fostoria Country Club. Short-handed Upper Sandusky nonetheless finished 12th with a 482. The Rams played without seniors Katie Clark, MacKenzie Kidwell and Olivia Barth. Mohawk finished ninth with a 452.

Early sheriff’s reports indicate a Forest man was sent via LifeFlight to St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, with serious injuries, after a crash involving three vehicles Monday evening on CH 330 near CH 108. Isaiah Abraszek was reportedly eastbound on CH 330 when he stopped his vehicle, a 2004 black Audi, on the side of the road after having motor trouble.

EMS T-shirt sale aims to help breast cancer patients

For the past five years, Wyandot County EMS has held a special T-shirt sale at the end of the summer, with all profits used to support patients fighting breast cancer at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Wyandot County EMS/EMA Coordinator Dale Risley said to ensure funds raised stayed local, the profits from the annual sale were used to buy $50 gas cards, which were donated to WMH oncology services.

As part of its fifth and sixth grade leadership academy, St. Peter Catholic School welcomed State Rep. Riordan McClain (pictured above at right) for lunch and a short speaking engagement Monday. Principal Blake England said the program is aimed at older students, but all grade levels were available to hear McClain speak and for a question and answer session about leadership.
