Riverdale girls 3rd, Carey boys 4th at Ada Invitational

ADA — Riverdale’s girls were third and Carey’s boys were fourth to lead area teams Saturday in the Ada Invitational track and field meet at War Memorial Stadium in Ada.

The Falcons finished with 74.8 points, just tenths behind runner-up Spencerville with 75 points. Bluffton won by a wide margin with 124.1 points. Carey finished seventh with 45 points and Mohawk 14th with four points.

Carey’s boys scored 63 points and were followed in the standings by Mohawk with 49 points and Riverdale with 48 points. Arlington won the girls title 103-92 over Allen East.

The only local winner in girls events was the Falcons’ 1600-meter relay team. Paige Vent, Emma Kemmere, Tamijah Altvater and Marissa Bonham finished in 4:09.43.

Bonham was runner-up in three individual events, the 200 dash in 26.64 seconds, the 400 dash in 57.55 and the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches. The Falcons were third in the 800 relay in 1:50.51, and Vent was fourth in the 400 dash in 1:02.38.

Elysa Holsinger had Carey’s best finish by taking second place in the 300 hurdles in 47.17. She also was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.07.

The Blue Devils were third in the 1600 relay in 4:16.56 and fourth in the 800 relay in 1:51.46. Ema Ritter finished fourth in the 800 run in 2:30.27.

Mohawk scored its only points of the meet with Emerson Gurney’s fifth-place finish in the 800 run in 2:34.65.

Carey’s Landyn Miller was the boys 800 run champion in 2:00.51. Tripp Phoenix was second in the 100 dash in 11.40. Phoenix, Mace Puckett, Dalen Walter and Lucas Smith-Hayward finished second in the 400 relay in 44.46. The Blue Devils were third in the 800 relay in 1:32.31, and Fisher Montgomery cleared 11-6 to take fourth place in the pole vault.

Mohawk’s only win was from Jett Loesser, Phoenix Nally, Myer Kirian and Kolten (Continued from page 8) Wood, who finished the 3200 relay in 8:30.17. The Warriors were fourth in the 800 relay in 1:35.29 and fourth in the 1600 relay in 3:39.01.

Individually, Nally finished third in the 800 run in 2:06.05 and Wood third in the 1600 run in 4:42.15. Eli Chevalier threw 151-11 to finish third in the discus, and Evan Mullholand topped 12-0 for third place in the pole vault.

Riverdale’s Kolten Evans was the champion in both the 1600 run (4:28.41) and the 3200 run (9:55.18). Grant Inbody was second in the discus at 156-4. Cale Young, Evans, Gabe Donaldson and Cody Flowers-Barger were runners-up in the 3200 relay in 8:30.20.

Carey and Mohawk compete in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference Championships at 4 p.m. Friday at Carey. Riverdale returns to War Memorial Stadium to take part in the Blanchard Valley Conference meet at 4 p.m. Friday.
