Upper tops Ridgedale for first victory

MORRAL — Led by Kenedi Hayden’s 11 kills and 15 digs, Upper Sandusky picked up its first win of the season with a 25-10, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory against Ridgedale on Thursday night. Emily Hill added seven kills and 16 digs, while Eve Smith passed out 20 assists and had 20 digs for the Rams (1-5, 1-2 N10).

Comets defeat Rams at Windy Acres

NEW BLOOMINGTON — Every score for both teams was between 50 and 60, but Elgin’s were lower in a 207-226 victory against Upper Sandusky in a nonconference girls golf match Thursday at Windy Acres Golf Course. Kendra Conley led the Rams (1-8) with a 53, with Katie Clark one stroke behind with a 54.

Riverdale falls to L-B for first defeat

FINDLAY — Lucas Mattingly scored early in the second half to break a tie and that goal held as the winner as Liberty-Benton defeated Riverdale, 2-1, in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday. Trent Ward gave the Eagles (2-2, 1-0 NCOSA) a 1-0 lead by scoring in the 13th minute, but six minutes later, Jackson Clark evened the score at 1 with a goal for the Falcons (2-1-1, 1-1 NCOSA).

Royals win battle of unbeaten golf teams

NEW WASHINGTON — Abby Underwood shot a 49 to help Wynford knock off Buckeye Central in a battle of unbeaten teams in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf match Wednesday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Caity Schiefer and Kassidy Stanford both shot 57s, while Emily Rudd added a 62 for the Royals (11-2, 7-0 N10). Gabby Johnson (69) and Kim Tuck (76) also played.

Tanner’s 40 leads Carey

NEW WASHINGTON — For the second consecutive match, the Carey boys golf team shot a 174 and came out on top, this time with a 174-180 victory over Buckeye Central on Wednesday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course.

Riverdale boys soccer coach Dylan Beck did not see his players for a couple months during the offseason, and when he finally did, he found they had grown — and not just figuratively. The Falcons used their height to convert on three headers for goals and used their speed to create opportunities while overwhelming Upper Sandusky, 10-1, in a boys soccer match Tuesday night.
