NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky pushed Buckeye Central in each set but fell in a sweep to the Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball leader, 25-17, 25-19, 25-20, on Tuesday night. The Rams (1-7, 1-3 N10) stayed close until beyond the midway point of the first set and held a 14-9 advantage in the second set.

COLUMBUS — Saturday couldn’t come soon enough for the Ohio State football team. Amidst all of the adversity, the question was how much everything that has transpired over the past month would affect the Buckeyes, who took the field without head coach Urban Meyer on the sideline, on Saturday.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky’s girls were fourth and the boys were fifth Saturday in the Bucyrus Elks Invitational at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Buckeye Valley finished with just 25 points to win the girls competition by a wide margin.

KENTON — Kenton netted three penalty kicks on the way to a 4-1 victory over Riverdale in a physical non-league soccer matchup on Saturday night. The Wildcats improved to 6-0 on the season, while Riverdale is now 2-2-1.

MARION — Pleasant swept Upper Sandusky, 25-15, 25-20, 25-6, in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday. Laina Sansotta led the Spartans (4-1) with 15 kills, with Alissa Holler and Halle Marvich adding nine and seven, respectively.

CLYDE — Brett Montgomery shot a 69 to lead Upper Sandusky to the championship in the Bellevue Home Savings Invitational on Saturday at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. The Rams finished with a season-best 18-hole team score of 319 in the 12-team tournament.

SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky took advantage of every opportunity it got and then some. The Rams scored three times on just two shots on goal in a 3-0 victory against Sandusky in a nonconference girls soccer match Saturday at Stroebel Field.

By every measure, Upper Sandusky and River Valley played an even match, including in the final score of 2-2 in boys soccer action Saturday. The Rams (2-4-1) and Vikings (2-1-2) were even in shots on goal at nine and in corner kicks at three.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Led by Sarah Reinhart’s seventh-place finish in 20:22.26, the Carey girls cross country team finished fourth in the small school division of the Columbus Grove Invitational on Saturday at Clymer Stadium. Columbus Grove topped Woodmore for first, 85-92, with Lincolnview third with 116 points. The Blue Devils scored 148 points.
