PANDORA — The Riverdale boys basketball team traveled into hostile territory Friday and walked away with a huge upset in overtime against Pandora-Gilboa. Pandora-Gilboa won its region in the 2017-18 season, but Riverdale wasn’t intimidated as Alec Loveridge, Coby Miller and Brock Davis all had double-digit points in the Falcons’ 64-58 overtime victory.

NEW WASHINGTON — Courtney Pifher broke out with her biggest game of the year, knocking down five 3-pointers and finishing with 25 points to lead Buckeye Central to a 56-31 victory against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Friday night in New Washington.

CAREY — Keeping junior forward Hayden Stone out of foul trouble and limiting turnovers have been two points of emphasis for the 2018-19 Carey boys basketball team. On Thursday, the Blue Devils turned the ball over 18 times, although it was 10 fewer than in their win over Riverdale last week.

BASCOM — MaKayla Elmore had 25 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals to lead Hopewell-Loudon to a 58-29 victory against Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball game Thursday night. The Chieftains (4-1, 2-0 BVC) took a 20-4 lead after one quarter and extended it to 32-12 at halftime and 45-17 after three quarters.

FOREST — Wyandot County Church Dartball League play opened Thursday night with Heritage Christian Union Church sweeping Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God, 2-1, 6-3 and 3-2.

ATTICA — Upper Sandusky’s eighth grade girls basketball team took a 35-18 victory against Seneca East on Thursday. Kaidance Iles led the Rams with 13 points, followed by Lauren Schoenberger with 11 points.

Early in the first quarter, Upper Sandusky coach Jeff Winslow beckoned his team to attack and do it quickly. It took 17 seconds for Cameron McCreary to score, but the Rams were in firm control.

GALION — Upper Sandusky dropped a pair of close duals to open its wrestling season, losing 39-36 to Ashland Crestivew and 44-33 to Northmor in a quad meet Wednesday at Northmor. The opener for the Rams came down to the final match with the Cougars’ Brent Eicher holding on for a 2-1 victory with the match tied at 36.
