Montgomery birdies 5 times as Upper completes N10 play 8-0

GALION — Brett Montgomery shot a career-low nine-hole 32 to help Upper Sandusky close out Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf play with a 171-222 victory against Colonel Crawford on Tuesday at Valley View Golf Course. Montgomery had birdies on Nos. 1, 4, 6, 7 and 9 with a bogey on No. 8.

Devils get N10 win over Tigers

CAREY — Carey stayed in contention in the Northern 10 Athletic League with a 174-189 victory against Seneca East and also picked up a nonleague win against North Baltimore (191) on Tuesday at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course. With the win, the Blue Devils (9-3, 5-2 N10) took control of third place in the league over the Tigers (6-3, 3-3 N10).

Wynford boys finish 5th at Lucas

LUCAS — Wynford’s boys took fifth place Tuesday in the Cub Classic cross country invitational at Lucas. The Royals scored 113 points, finishing just behind Northern 10 Athletic Conference foes Bucyrus (105 points) and Buckeye Central (110).

NEW WASHINGTON — Carey won a back-and-forth second set but Buckeye Central controlled the other three to stay unbeaten in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play with a 25-16, 27-29, 25-16, 25-15 victory Tuesday night in New Washington.

N10 leader Buckeye Central tops Mohawk

NEW WASHINGTON — Northern 10 Athletic Conference co-leader Buckeye Central scored a 230-265 victory against Mohawk on Tuesday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Lexi Biglin was the medalist for the Buckettes (9-1, 8-1 N10) with a 55, one stroke better than the Warriors’ Alyana Kindle, who shot a 56.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk pushed its winning streak to eight with a 25-7, 25-17, 25-18 victory against Upper Sandusky on Monday night at Mohawk. After the Warriors (8-1, 5-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) rolled in the opening set, the Rams (1-9, 1-5 N10) hung close through the first half of the final two sets before Mohawk pulled away.

Royals pull out 2nd set but fall in 4

MARION — Wynford pulled out a tight second set but could not carry that momentum in to the rest of the match in a 25-9, 25-27, 25-6, 25-12 loss to Pleasant in nonconference volleyball action Monday at Pleasant. “We played very well in the second set,” Wynford coach Jamee Burke said.

Mohawk grad named OAC golfer of week

AUSTINTOWN — Capital University senior Katelynn Kinley was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week by the conference office on Monday. Kinley, a native of Sycamore and graduate of Mohawk High School, set a new personal low and placed her name among some of Capital’s best golfers after 18 holes on Saturday.
