Two different times, a screen was set. And both times, when Upper Sandusky senior guard Alexis Fogle had the ball with the clock winding down near the end of the quarter, a screen enabled her to take an open shot.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Using a halfcourt press defense, Riverdale was able to force steals and turn them into points, leading to a 51-22 girls basketball victory over Ada on Tuesday night. Riverdale improves to 4-4 on the season, while Ada falls to 1-4.

SYCAMORE — It was Danielle Horsley’s kind of game. The 5-foot-9 senior post player thrived through physical play by scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds on a night when offense otherwise was hard to come by, leading Colonel Crawford to a 31-21 victory against Mohawk on Tuesday.

MORRAL — It may not have been its best shooting night, but the Wynford girls basketball team held on a for a 43-41 victory over Ridgedale on Tuesday. After a Lyndie Williams steal with 9.4 seconds remaining, Savannah Tobias hit two free throws to give the Royals a two-point lead.

TIFFIN — Upper Sandusky’s girls won big while the boys tied for first in a swimming tri-meet Tuesday at the Tiffin YMCA. The Rams girls scored 90 points, with Tiffin Columbian edging Tiffin Calvert for second 47-43.

KENTON — Wynford’s boys swimming team edged Bellefontaine but lost to Kenton in a tri-meet, while the Royals girls lost both Tuesday at the Kenton YMCA. The Royals boys topped the Chieftains 46-44 but lost to the Wildcats 63-29.

The Upper Sandusky Rams varsity competition squad placed first at the Anthony Wayne Winter Cheer Challenge Sunday at Anthony Wayne High school.

The Upper Sandusky junior high wrestling team went 3-1 in dual wrestling matches over the weekend, losing to Archbold 54-42 and beating Findlay Donnell 58-30, Findlay Glenwood 88-6 and Kenton 90-6.

The Upper Sandusky sixth grade girls basketball team won the Van Wert Black Frickin’ Friday Tournament. Upper Sandusky junior guard Mason Vent’s first shot was nothing but air. His last shot was nothing but net. With 7.6 seconds remaining and the game tied at 45, Cameron McCreary received the inbounds pass from Jason Holly and dribbled to his right to the top of the key, where he tried to drive into the paint but three of the Eagles’ defenders guarded it.
