SYCAMORE — It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the Mohawk boys basketball team got the job done against a gritty Carey team Friday night at Mohawk High School in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game. The Warriors never trailed in a physical contest, but never created enough separation to get comfortable either, winning 46-40 in a defensive struggle.

MORRAL — Ridgedale High School may be 20.2 miles from Upper Sandusky High School, but Upper Sandusky senior guard Levi Malone has relished the opportunity to play at the Rockets’ gym.

Upper Sandusky got the better of Carey on the wrestling mat once again, but it was not nearly as easy as last year. The Rams clinched a 39-33 victory over the Blue Devils with Gage Ebert’s 9-2 win by decision over Hunter Noon in the final match, a far cry from last year’s 66-9 victory by the Rams.

NORTH BALTIMORE — The Riverdale boys basketball team was red hot from the field en route to picking up a one-sided 86-56 victory over Blanchard Valley Conference foe North Baltimore Friday night in North Baltimore.

NORTH ROBINSON — Colonel Crawford needed a big fourth quarter to rally past Wynford, 53-46, for its first Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball win of the season Friday night. Trailing 41-35 entering the fourth quarter, the Eagles (3-3, 1-3 N10) outscored the Royals 18-5, with Jordan Fenner scoring 9 of his 21 points in the final eight minutes.

RAWSON — If there’s one person that the Riverdale girls basketball team has relied on this season, it’s senior forward Bry Vanden Bosch. In the midst of another slow start, a start in which the Falcons were trailing by 11 points early in the first quarter, the Falcons closed the half on a 14-point run, a run in which Vanden Bosch scored 11 of the Falcons’ 19 points the rest of the half.

The Upper Sandusky Middle School wrestling team finished fifth of 24 teams Saturday in the River Valley Invitational.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of McCutchenville swept Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God, 3-1, 9-2 and 5-0, to move into a share of first place in the Wyandot County Church Dartball League on Thursday evening.

SYCAMORE — The Wyandot County Indians opened their season with a 49-32 victory against the Seneca County Arrows on Monday at the Sycamore Community Center. The Indians jumped out to a 19-2 lead in the first quarter to set the tone.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central defeated Mohawk 37-19 in an eighth grade girls basketball game Thursday. Bailey Sheets led the Warriors with 8 points. Alysen Young added 4 points, and Josephine Smith scored 3 points.
