Carey puts 4 in quarterfinals

LIMA — Carey’s Reece Mullholand, Hayden Jacoby, Tanner May and Ethan Schlack all reached the quarterfinals of the LCC Thunderbird Invitational on Friday at Lima Central Catholic. Mullholand had a pair of pins at 120 pounds, Jacoby won by major decision and decision at 160, May won his only match by pin at 182, and Schlack had two pins at 285.

The Warriors, who just earned the No. 10 spot in Division IV in the latest state poll, made just 5 of 27 field goals in the first half, falling behind 29-13 at the half.

Falcons falls to Eagles, edge Tigers

NORTH BALTIMORE — Riverdale pulled out a 31-30 victory against North Baltimore to earn a split in a Blanchard Valley Conference wrestling super-tri Thursday at North Baltimore. The Falcons lost the opener against Liberty-Benton 66-12. In the other matches, Arcadia defeated North Baltimore 64-18, and the Eagles came out the overall winner with a 39-37 victory against the Redskins.

McCutchenville sweeps

Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville maintained its lead on first place in the Wyandot County Church Dartball League with a sweep of John Stewart United Methodist Church, 6-3, 4-2 and 6-5, on Thursday.

BUCYRUS — Against the Colonel Crawford girls basketball team on Wednesday, the Wynford girls basketball team forced 20 turnovers. And with 5:19 remaining in the fourth quarter, Savannah Tobias’ steal — a steal that came after Colonel Crawford’s Kaylyn Risner hit a put back that brought the Eagles within three points — ensured the Royals had at least a two-possession advantage the rest of the way.

Arend leads Carey past Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Without a go-to scorer this year, the Carey girls basketball team has struggled offensively at times this year. On Tuesday night, Sadie Arend stepped up and filled that void with 18 points to lead the Blue Devils to a 44-30 victory against rival Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky won big over its fellow pool mates as all three schools celebrated senior night Friday evening at the Bucyrus YMCA. The Rams girls topped Wynford 261-100, with Bucyrus scoring 76 points, while Upper Sandusky’s boys scored 130 points, with the Royals topping the Redmen 73-24 for second place.
