GALION — Wynford’s Caity Schiefer missed district qualifying by one stroke as Wynford finished in fifth place Tuesday in Division II sectional girls golf play at Valley View Golf Course. The top three teams and the top three individuals from non-qualifying teams earned a spot in next week’s district tournament. Schiefer shot a 100, with the final district spot going to Colonel Crawford’s Mariah Cotsamire with a 99.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk rallied from late deficits in the first and third sets and swept Colonel Crawford 25-22, 25-6, 25-22 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball action Tuesday night at Mohawk. The Warriors (10-4, 7-3 N10) trailed 21-19 in the opening set and 22-17 in the third set.

BUCYRUS — Wynford avenged an earlier loss by beating Ridgedale 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball action Tuesday night at Wynford. The Rockets won in four sets the first time the teams met Aug. 27 at Ridgedale.

FORT JENNINGS — Unbeaten Riverdale pelted winless Fort Jennings with 30 shots on goal and earned 18 corner kicks while taking a 6-0 victory Tuesday at Fort Jennings. Considering the barrage of shots the Falcons (7-0-3) managed, the Musketeers (0-11) hung in tough, especially for most of the first half. Tyler Hart’s goal in the ninth minute was the only goal Riverdale scored until a flurry of scoring in a five-minute span.

ONTARIO — Grace Wetherill had seven kills but it was not nearly enough in Riverdale’s 25-10, 25-12, 25-17 nonconference loss at Ontario on Tuesday night. Tayler Sherman and Tayler Ashburn had three kills each for the Falcons (2-11) against the Warriors (12-5).

BUCYRUS — Wynford had little trouble taking out rival Bucyrus 25-18, 25-11, 25-11 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Monday night. Averi McMillan led the Royals (7-8, 5-5 N10) with six kills, seven assists and six digs. In her return to the lineup after missing the last five matches, Lainey Holman had four kills and two aces.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Grace Wetherill pounded 19 kills, and Riverdale outlasted North Baltimore 26-28, 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 15-10 in Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball play Monday night at Riverdale. Wetherill added three aces for the Falcons (2-10, 1-6 BVC). Tayler Yoder had 28 assists. Tayler Ashburn contributed four aces, five kills and eight digs.

CAREY — Having used Lakeland Golf Club as its home course this season, the Carey golf team returned to its former home to close out the season with a 164-181 victory against North Baltimore on senior night Monday at Bob’s Country Side Golf Course.

CAREY — McKenzie Row had 15 kills and 17 digs as Carey defeated Colonel Crawford 25-19, 26-24, 21-25, 25-17 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Monday night. Row also was 17 of 19 serve receiving and had one block for the Blue Devils (6-8, 5-5 N10).

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central remained unbeaten in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play by beating Mohawk 25-14, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22 on Monday night. The Bucks (11-4, 10-0 N10) erased an early Mohawk lead in the second set, while the Warriors (9-4, 6-3 N10) held on in the third set. Buckeye Central took control of the fourth set early and then was able to survive Mohawk’s bid to force a fifth set to beat the Warriors for the second time this year.
