CAREY — Weather was not going to prevent the Ashland Crestview vs. Carey high school football game from being played Friday night. The game’s start was delayed three hours due to lightning, and then another 30 minutes after heat lightning was observed in the first quarter, but play resumed. In the end, a first quarter field goal was all Ashland Crestview needed, defeating Carey 3-0 in a non-conference game that ended after midnight at C.B. Wentling Field in Carey.

A caller reported a loose labrador-poodle mix with a red collar on the 100 block of East Walker Street the morning of Sept. 12. The responding officer was unable to locate the dog. An officer assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop on the U.S. 23 southbound ramp onto Ohio 53 the evening of Sept. 12.

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team got its first win in more than a month, snapping a six-match losing streak with a 3-2 victory against Bucyrus on Thursday at Bucyrus. The Rams (3-8) got a win in both doubles matches and also in the No. 2 singles spot from Mara Smalley.

Bucyrus tops Wynford in N10 finale

BUCYRUS — Wynford wrapped up Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf play with a 175-193 loss to rival Bucyrus on Thursday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Kayleb Keaton led the Royals (5-6, 3-5 N10) with a 42, with Josh Crall and Aden Caldwell both shooting 49s. Nash Farrell completed the team scoring with a 53. Dylon Robinson (55) and Thomas Weithman (60) also were in the lineup.

BUCYRUS — Wynford pushed one of the top teams in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference once again but came up short against Seneca East 25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23 on Thursday night at Wynford. The Royals (5-6, 3-4 N10) got 18 kills, 17 digs and eight total blocks from Averi McMillan. Lyndie Williams added eight kills, and Madelynn Johnson finished with 33 assists and 14 digs.

Falcons light up scoreboard in 12-0 win

RAWSON — Jackson Clark scored thee first-half goals, and eight different players scored as Riverdale rolled to a 12-0 victory against Cory-Rawson in boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association play Thursday. Tom Miller, Matthew Mason, Drew Frey and Tyler Hart all scored goals in the first half as the Falcons (3-0-2, 1-0 NCOSA) built a 7-0 lead. Drew Frey scored twice in the second half, and Logan Frey, Mitchell O’Flaherty and Mike Hough all added goals.

Row’s 14 kills lead Blue Devils to sweep

CAREY — McKenzie Row had 14 kills and 21 digs to lead Carey to a 25-13, 25-21, 25-17 victory against Ridgedale in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Thursday night at Carey. Alaina Tiell added eight kills, Sadie Arend had six, and Bailey Tanner finished with five for the Blue Devils (4-7, 3-4 N10).
