Carey rolls to 2nd straight win

CAREY — Carey coasted past Bucyrus 57-29 for its second straight victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball play Tuesday night. Hannah Lonsway scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Blue Devils (3-9, 3-5 N10). Avarie Stewart added 10 points.

Rams pick up basketball wins over Devils

CAREY — The Upper Sandusky seventh grade boys basketball team topped Carey 40-19 on Monday. Holden Daris led a balanced effort for the Rams (8-1) with 8 points. Also scoring were Micah Shasteen and Kaden Holman with 6 points each, Ethan Hill and Braydon Chester with 5 points each, and Gavin Frey and Evan Hinesman with 4 points each.

As the Upper Sandusky girls basketball team shared the ball, passed to open teammates for a higher quality shot and broke Mohawk’s 2-3 zone with cutters, a tear could be seen in an eye of Upper Sandusky coach Jerry Vent. The Rams offensive efficiency, coupled with converting on turnovers, enabled the Rams to take a 24-point lead into halftime, setting the tone for the Rams’ 67-32 victory over the Warriors on Saturday at Upper Sandusky High School.

Lex’s Johnston hits 8 3s to lead Minutemen past Rams

As well as Lexington’s Kyle Johnston shot the ball last season, he had been marred in a shooting slump so far this season. He broke out of it on Saturday. Johnston, a 6-foot-2 guard, made a career-high eight 3-pointers and led all scorers with 24 points, another career high, as the Lexington boys basketball team overwhelmed Upper Sandusky 76-50 at Upper Sandusky High School.

Rams sweep competition at A-Behr Invite

SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky showed off its depth as both the boys and girls captured the championships Saturday in the A-Behr Blue Streak Classic XVII swimming invitational at Sandusky. The Rams girls edged the host Blue Streaks 264-235 for first place, while the Rams boys won big over Huron 305-207.

Blue Devils make 24 free throws in N10 victory against Ridgedale

MORRAL — The Carey girls basketball team found a formula to be successful on offense. The Blue Devils got 22 offensive rebounds and made 24 of 35 free throws in a 47-38 victory Saturday at Ridgedale. Carey (2-9, 2-5 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) entered averaging just 29.7 points per game on 29.9 percent shooting from the floor and 48.7 percent shooting at the foul line.

Falcons bounce back with big victory

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A 23-6 second quarter in favor of Riverdale turned a close contest into a runaway by halftime, allowing the Falcons to cruise in the second half to an 82-31 boys basketball win over Hardin Northern on Saturday in a nonconference game.
