KALIDA — Brett Montgomery was sectional champion for the third year in a row, and Upper Sandusky advanced to districts for the second straight season with a runner-up team finish Thursday in the Division II district boys golf tournament at Moose Landing Country Club.

Rams win 3-set matches 4 times

It took three sets in four matches but Upper Sandusky earned its first 5-0 victory of the season, defeating Bucyrus in girls tennis action Thursday at Upper Sandusky. “We didn’t play as sharp as we would have liked, but a win is a win,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said. “We have things to work on headed into the sectional tournament.”

Wynford completes perfect week

NORTH ROBINSON — Wynford completed a perfect 3-0 week by rallying to beat Colonel Crawford 15-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 15-10 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball action Thursday night in North Robinson. The Royals (9-8, 7-5 N10) had sweeps against Bucyrus and Ridgedale on Monday and Tuesday, but things were not as easy Thursday.

Crall leads Royals at Sawmill Creek

HURON — Up to Division II in boys golf for the first time, Wynford finished 12th with a 421 in the sectional golf tournament Thursday at Sawmill Creek Golf and Racquet Club. Galion was the team champion with a 340-346 advantage over Perkins, with Bellevue edging Shelby for the final of three district spots 368-369.

Riverdale’s Weber, Collier win home dual

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale swept the first-place finishes Thursday in a modified dual cross country meet with Cory-Rawson at Riverdale. With all runners only completing 2 miles, the Falcons’ Juleigha Collier was the girls winner in 13:58, and Eli Weber took first for the boys in 11:21.

Upper wins 3rd straight N10 match

MORRAL — Upper Sandusky extended its Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball winning streak to three by rallying from a 2-1 deficit to beat Ridgedale on the road 25-23, 13-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-11 on Thursday night. Reagan Ward led the attack for the Rams (6-10, 5-6 N10) with 12 kills. Sydney Stuckman and Emily Hill had seven kills each, with Hill also going 13 of 13 serving and finishing with 13 digs.

Adults need to stop behaving like kids

Inappropriate adult behavior at high school athletic events in Ohio has reached epidemic proportion. When more than 2,000 high school athletic directors were asked in a recent national survey what they like least about their job, 62.3% said it was “dealing with aggressive parents and adult fans.”

Riverdale takes 1st set but falls in 4

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale took the opening set but Van Buren finished strong to win 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 in Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball action Wednesday night. Grace Wetherill had three aces, 10 kills and four blocks to lead the Falcons (2-12, 1-7 BVC).

Solander hits 3rd hole-in-one

George Solander had a hole-in-one last week at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. It came on the par-3 137-yard hole No. 8 with an 8-iron. Witnesses were Gary Shied and Marc Hart. It was Solander’s third hole-in-one.
