USHS, WMH to offer physicals

Upper Sandusky High School and SportsCare at Wyandot Memorial Hospital are offering athletic physicals May 30 in the USHS gymnasium. WMH staff and local chiropractors and optometrists will provide physical exams for a $15 donation to the athletic department to be used for the purchase of supplies.

Fairhaven BBQ to raise funds for athletics

Fairhaven Community will be sponsoring a chicken barbecue drive-thru fundraiser from 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 19 with all proceeds supporting the Upper Sandusky High School athletic department. Meals include half a chicken, bacon and cheese scalloped potatoes, green beans and a roll. The cost is $8.50.

Upper HS gym to be refinished

Robert’s Floors will be refinishing the gym floors at Upper Sandusky High School, East Elementary and Union School from June 28 through July 9. The USHS gym will be closed during this time and will reopen July 10.

Indians peaking at right time

To make a tournament run, teams have to be playing their best when it matters most. That has been the case for the Wyandot County Special Olympics basketball team, which has made a surprise run to this weekend’s state tournament.

Holderman steps down as coach at Riverdale to focus on being mom

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Being a mother is first for Maryann Holderman, and so she made the difficult decision to step down as Riverdale girls basketball coach Monday. With daughter Sydney headed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, next year, Holderman no longer was going to have the time to be both the coach and mother she wanted to be. “The bottom line is I want to be able to go watch Sydney play,” Maryann said. “I want to be a mom in the stands.”
