Royals top Devils to win 5th straight

BUCYRUS — Pitching and defense will take a team a long way. Wynford has displayed both — and has found a fair share of offense, as well — during a five-game winning streak that includes a 12-2 victory in six innings against Carey on Thursday.

Upper holds off Buckeye Central, 15-13

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky built a 13-0 lead and needed almost all of it to hold off Buckeye Central, 15-13, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday. The Rams scored five times each in the first and second innings, twice in the third and once in the fourth to go up 13-0, but the Bucks came back with a single run in the bottom of the fourth, six runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to cut their deficit to 13-9.

Upper junior high track teams take 1st in tri-meet

Upper Sandusky’s junior high track and field teams opened the season with wins in a tri-match against Colonel Crawford and Ridgedale. The Rams girls (49 points) edged the Eagles (44) and Rockets (41), while the boys won with easy with a 93-41 advantage on Colonel Crawford.

Rams even N10 standings with 2-1 win

ATTICA — In close games, the little things mean a lot. Upper Sandusky did just enough of those things to take a 2-1 victory Wednesday at Seneca East to even things up at the top of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball standings.

Carey has pair of 8-run innings in 19-0 victory

CAREY — Carey’s offense exploded for eight runs each in the third and fourth innings to run away with a 19-0 victory against Wynford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Wednesday. Bryanna Curlis and Taehlor Niederkohr both finished with four hits to lead the Blue Devils (2-5, 2-2 N10) at the plate.
