Upper qualifies many to regionals

DEFIANCE — Upper Sandusky’s girls track and field team qualified for regionals in seven events, including a pair of individuals in two events, while finishing third Friday in the finals of the Division II district meet at Defiance College.

Falcons hold on for 5-4 win in Toledo

TOLEDO — Riverdale pitcher Trey Miller stranded a pair of runners on base to preserve a 5-4 victory to close out the baseball season Friday night at Fifth-Third Field in Toledo. The Falcons rallied after giving up three runs in the first inning.

Mohawk, Wynford begin at Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s Tyler Pummell in the shot put and the Mohawk girls 3200 relay team are on to regional competition after qualifying Thursday in the first day of the Division III district meet at Bucyrus. Both were district champions, with the 3200 team of Anna Stillberger, Shelby Bollinger, Destini Oler and Madison Fredritz finishing in 10:14.09 and Pummell throwing 54-1.

Carey scores 13 in 1st, gets school record 18th victory

CAREY — The Blue Devils softball team set a new school record with its 18th win of the season Thursday, 15-3 over Ridgedale. Carey (18-9, 10-5 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) continued its hot hitting from Wednesday’s district tournament game, scoring 13 runs in the first inning against the Rockets (2-22, 1-15 N10).

Shock pitches Warriors to 2-1 win over Tigers

CLYDE — In three tournament games, Austin Shock has allowed three runs. More importantly, the senior has three wins, and Mohawk is in the district final game after a 2-1 win over top-seeded North Baltimore in the district semis in Clyde on Wednesday.

Royals score 3 in 7th to take 4-1 win over Flyers

SHELBY — At this point in the season, everything is all about and all for the seniors. Left-hander Kyle DeJean got the call on the mound for Wynford in its Division IV district semifinal game against Norwalk St. Paul and came through with a four-hit, 11-strikeout performance to lead the Royals to a 4-1 victory.
