Mohawk wins 5th straight

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk volleyball team won its fifth straight match, all of them in three-set sweeps, with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-23 victory against New Riegel on Saturday. The Warriors (7-2) got 11 kills, nine digs and three aces from Destini Oler, while Addie Thiery added eight kills and four digs.

Damron leads Upper in loss to Monroeville

Tori Damron had seven kills, but it was not nearly enough in Upper Sandusky’s 25-18, 25-12, 25-18 loss to volleyball power Monroeville on Saturday. Damron was 10-of-12 hitting, and Rachel Martin went 11-of-12 hitting with four kills.

Riverdale reserves shine in 3-0 win

BELLEFONTAINE — The girls soccer contest between Riverdale and Ben Logan was a bit of a mixed bag for the Falcons. Riverdale did grab a 3-0 win, but coach Andrew Snook wanted his players to use the game as a tune-up for Wednesday’s key conference showdown against Liberty-Benton, and that didn’t happen.

State No. 5 Archbold edges Riverdale

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s defense held the fifth-ranked team in the state in check, but Archbold managed a first-half goal that was good enough for a 1-0 victory in a boys soccer match Saturday. The Blue Streaks (5-0-1) got a Denver Beck goal at the 15:21 mark in the first half after a corner kick produced a scramble for the ball in front of the net.

Bame leads Devils to 3rd place at NB

NORTH BALTIMORE — Trey Bame shot an 81 to lead Carey to a third-place finish Saturday in the North Baltimore Tiger Invitational at Birch Run Golf Course. The Blue Devils shot a 339 to finish behind Van Buren with a 298 and Lincolnview with a 331 in the 12-team field.

Division IV No. 4 McComb sweeps Carey

McCOMB — Ranked No. 4 in Division IV in today’s state volleyball poll, McComb powered past Carey, 25-15, 25-16, 25-14, on Saturday. Sydney Kin was 26-of-30 hitting with 11 kills, went 9-of-10 serving with an ace, and added 10 digs and two blocks for the Blue Devils (6-4).

USHS grads to face off in volleyball match

BOWLING GREEN — A pair of Upper Sandusky High School graduates will share the volleyball court again — this time as opponents. Jessi Holly, a freshman at Bowling Green State University, will go up against Taylor Graboski, a Valparaiso University junior, when the Division I universities meet in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. …
