Football camp set at Upper HS

Upper Sandusky High School will host a youth football camp for students entering fourth through sixth grades from 2-4 p.m. June 8-10 on the practice field. Participants will learn how to tackle, pursue the football, block and secure the football.

Fortner leads Wynford’s big day

TIFFIN — One regional championship was not enough for Wynford’s sprint relay team. After Cole Fortner, Robbie Miller, Tony Watson and Alizhah Watson won the 800 relay in 1:30.44, the same team captured the 400 relay title in 43.27 in Division III track and field action Friday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin.

Riverdale’s Pauley earns return to state

TIFFIN — Carrol Pauley is going back to Columbus. The Riverdale junior threw 135-6 on her third attempt in the discus final to secure third place in the Division III Tiffin regional Friday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium and advance to the state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.

Carey a win away from state

FINDLAY — Carey continues to conquer the odds. A two-home run showing at the plate by Dani Berardinelli-Clark kept the Blue Devils’ record-setting season alive Wednesday, as Carey won its first ever regional semifinal game, 8-6, over regular district champion Gibsonburg.

Larimer shuts down Warriors in regional semis

LORAIN — To beat a team the caliber of Berlin Center Western Reserve, Mohawk would have needed some breaks to go its way. Instead, they went the way of the Blue Devils, who shut out the Warriors, 6-0, in a Division IV regional semifinal game Thursday at the Lorain Pipe Yard.

Weber helps Falcons finish strong

TIFFIN — Madi Weber helped turn things around for the Riverdale girls in Wednesday’s regional track and field preliminary races. With no Falcons having qualified for finals more than halfway through the slate of events, Weber ran to a fourth-place finish in the second heat of the 400 dash.

Mohawk 3200 relay misses state by 1 spot

LANCASTER — Mohawk’s girls 3200 relay team came up one spot shy of qualifying for state, finishing fifth in the regional meet Wednesday at Fairfield Union. Destini Oler, Anna Stillberger, Madison Fredritz and Shelbey Bollinger finished in 10:09.00.
