CAREY — The Carey Teen Leadership Corps will hold the second annual basketball Coaches vs. Cancer games Jan. 21. Carey’s girls take on Mohawk at 1 p.m., while the boys compete against Upper Sandusky at 6 p.m.

Upper Sandusky’s girls basketball game at Tiffin Columbian will begin with junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 27. Wynford’s girls basketball game scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Ashland Crestview has been postponed to Jan. 3.

Ridgedale may be improved from last year’s winless Northern 10 Athletic Conference season, but the Rockets’ youth and inexperience were no match for Upper Sandusky’s pressure defense.

Sydney Kin and Chelsey Trusty went back and forth throughout the first half. That was the drama.

CAREY — Carey dominated a wrestling home tri-match Tuesday, defeating Hopewell-Loudon, 64-9, and Riverdale, 70-6.

NORTH ROBINSON — Alexus Burkhart and Ashley Gwirtz each scored 13 points to lead Colonel Crawford to a 43-31 victory against Wynford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night. Gretchen Harris led the Royals (2-4, 2-1 N10) with 15 points, while Olivia Grove scored 10 points.

CAREY — Ask around the area, and high school football fans, media and coaches will consistently say one thing about Carey Blue Devils football: the kids have a knack for playing hard.

The Upper Sandusky eighth grade boys basketball team rolled past Mohawk, 40-12, on Monday. Gavin Carey led the Rams (4-1) with 21 points.

Facing its toughest opponent of the year, the Upper Sandusky boys basketball team came through with its best performance of the season. The Rams rose to the occasion with a huge first half and a hot shooting night from Jevon Dible and Ry Adams in a 74-65 victory against Shelby on Saturday night.

BUCYRUS — Five wrestlers won their weight classes, and Upper Sandusky took the team championship Saturday in the Bucyrus Invitational. The Rams topped North Union, 267-235, with Lakota finishing third among 13 teams with 170 points.
